Quinn King
Quinn King General manager

A flood put chum salmon in the ditches of his Squamish childhood, and that was that. Ten years guiding salt water while running the shop, a shelf of 3D archery golds, and open country with rifle and bow in the fall. His advice: think small — the details catch the fish.

Jon Knudsen
Jon Knudsen Store manager

Store manager. Thirty years hunting blacktail through sub-alpine timber and rock bluffs, twenty-odd fishing, coho on the river his pick. Looks after rods and reels, saltwater tackle, hunting, marine electronics, clothing and the repair bench — and will tell you exactly what he runs.

Alex Keith
Alex Keith Archery director

Runs archery and the bowstring bench. Four years hunting blacktail through rocky bluffs and timber with bow, rifle and shotgun — he likes that they live in cool country and are hard to find. Shoots a Mathews Arc 34 at 75 lb. Grew up outside Liverpool; here since 2019.

Eve Jarry
Eve Jarry Financial controller

Keeps the back end of the shop running. Fishing most of a lifetime — up at 3 a.m. for muskies and trout as a kid — and lately won over by kokanee: salmon, on a lake. Hunts blacktail, grouse and black bear with a Browning AB3 in .243. Advice for new anglers: learn good knots.

Mitch Hrynchuk
Mitch Hrynchuk Supervisor

Runs the fly shop. Twenty years fishing, steelhead his pick for the hunt. Off the water it’s climbing, mountaineering, free diving and tying flies. His advice: fish where other people are not.

Rob Worrall
Rob Worrall

Sixty years fishing, starting at nine with a string on a stick. Decades at Tyee, and never worked anywhere else. Ten years guiding salt and fresh; certified fly casting instructor and fly tying instructor. Builds and repairs rods, and services reels and downriggers. Fifty years hunting Island blacktail.

Fisher Saxby
Fisher Saxby

Steelhead and trout, fresh water and salt. He and his older brother have both worked here. Accomplished hockey player, and in the gym when he is not on the river.

Caelan Tuck
Caelan Tuck

Sixteen years fishing, starting on pinks with his dad at two or three. Winter and summer steelhead are what he chases, for the hunt. Looks after rods and reels, fly fishing and freshwater tackle.

Karis Gauthier
Karis Gauthier

Fishing and hunting since before she can remember, taught by her father — a Campbell River fishing guide. Not a guide herself, though you would never guess it from the questions she can answer.

Rory Cromarty
Rory Cromarty

Looks after traditional archery. Sixty-five years fishing — that’s what kids from Ocean Falls did — with trout and steelhead still the pick, away from the crowds. Fifty-two years hunting blacktail, mule deer and moose, with a Browning BLR in .30-06 or a 44 lb Chek-Mate longbow. Retired, and here part time.

Dave Hutton
Dave Hutton

Looks after downrigger service and repair, and helps with archery and on the floor. Fifty years fishing, chinook and coho first, and six seasons rowing in the Tyee Club of BC’s tournament. Forty-five years hunting moose, deer and game birds — ask him about the 1999 moose. A paramedic for nineteen years and an on-call firefighter, he calls Tyee his fun job.

Archery

Bows, arrows, components and the tuning range have their own store.
