Hornady Critical Defense in 45 Auto, loaded with a 185 grain FTX bullet. The FTX has a flexible tip in the hollow point, which Hornady says keeps the cavity from clogging so the bullet expands reliably. The propellants are chosen for low flash and reduced recoil, including in short-barrelled handguns.
- Cartridge: 45 Auto
- Bullet: 185 gr FTX
- Muzzle velocity: 900 fps (3 in. test barrel)
- Muzzle energy: 333 ft-lb
